"...Only gradually did I discover what the mandala really is: 'Formation, Transformation, Eternal Mind's eternal creation' (Faust, II). And that is the self, the wholeness of the personality, which if all goes well is harmonious, but which cannot tolerate self-deceptions." C.G. Jung

Jairia is the artist-pseudonym of Kathy Shimpock. The Hebrew name Jairia, means “enlightened by God.” It is with this desire that Kathy creates her art hoping it might bring spiritual awareness to others.

Kathy's artistic pursuits focus on the creation of personal mandalas and on spiritual art. Mandala is the Sanskrit word for circle, however, a mandala is far more than a simple shape. In various spiritual traditions, mandalas have been used to focus the attention of spiritual seekers; as a teaching tool; for establishing a sacred space; and as an aid to meditation and trance induction.

The creation of your mandala is a transformative process. Together we will work to uncover images that resonate  as positive expressions of life itself. These images, when viewed, will help you enter into a state of appreciation and gratitude. The process begins by answering a series of questions designed to reveal your own inner symbols. Kathy will then create a one-of-a kind mandala depicting your images in paint and collage. After receiving your image, your journey of exploration continues as you meditate, reflect and journal on these images. This process includes questions for inner reflection, a discussion of the meaning of the images throughout time and diverse cultures, and an intuitive mythic interpretation of the mandala by the artist. Also available is a self-hypnosis MP3 which uses symbols within a guided imagery meditation. Price is based on the size of the mandala and the number of symbols included. Contact us for more information and options to purchase a custom mandala.

Kathy also creates spiritual collages, affirmation mirrors and objects of art used in spiritual practice (including prayer boxes, prayer wheels, icons and altars). Each of the works are unique, one of a kind, items made of hand dyed paper, collage, original or ancient images, metal and faux gems. Included with each collage or mirror is an affirmation. Daily use of affirmations can have a profound and transformative impact on your life. These may be found at the Symbols of Soul Etsy website. Kathy's work is often on display at the Southwest Institute of Healing Arts in Tempe, AZ.

Kathy's artistic creations also include OOAK art dolls which have been published in the Spring 2016 issue of Art Doll Quarterly.

The mandala has served to center me and remind me of the things I love and hold dear and as 'silly' as it may seem...reminds me 'WHO' I am.

Have I mentioned how much I love my mandala? It's so beautiful and powerful - a word that came up for me today while writing in my journal. It has so much going on, but it is so well balanced and the polarity of it gives it that strength. Best of all... all that the mandala represents IS ME. So, it helps me think of myself in a more powerful and balanced way than I ever did before.

It was a very powerful experience just to receive the mandala. And the journaling was enlightening.

Thank you so much for taking me on this journey. I will use this meditation every day. I am a joyful optimist. My spirit is strong and free and brave. I seek, laugh and stand tall. I fight for what I want and believe in.
